Recurring Events & Special Gatherings
Every year, this event brings our community together, creating lasting memories while making a real difference. Take part and help us continue our mission to provide high-quality, compassionate care to those in need.
Volunteer Training : Dementia Care Program
Bow Valley Palliative invites volunteers and community members to a two-day Dementia Care Program (DCP) Volunteer Training focused on improving communication and co-navigation with individuals living with dementia.
The weekend begins with a Friday evening virtual session led by Cindy L. from Dementia Together (Colorado), introducing the SPECAL Method. On Saturday, participants will join Candace Timmerman’s monthly dementia workshop and take part in hands-on case studies and scenarios.
This free training is open to BVP volunteers and the public—ideal for anyone involved in dementia, grief, or palliative care.
Golf for Hospice
Every August, Bow Valley Palliative hosts an annual golf tournament to raise awareness about palliative and grief care in the Bow Valley.
In 2025 at our 7th annual tournament, golfers, sponsors, patrons, and donors helped raise $100,000 through donations, gifts-in-kind, sponsorships, and participation!
We’re already gearing up for another incredible day on the green. Golf for Hospice 2026 is happening on August 20th at Stewart Creek Golf & Country Club!
Be sure to keep an eye on our newsletter and events calendar for updates and registration details! Mark your calendars and save the date for this meaningful day of golf, community, and impact.
Pals for Palliative
Every May Bow Valley Palliative has hosted Hike for Hospice during National Hospice Palliative Care Week. Through this event and week BVP promotes and fundraises for hospice, end of life, and palliative care in the Bow Valley.
In 2025, Hike was incorporated into our new event Pals for Palliative providing our community with a wide range of options to support and fundraise for palliative and end of life care, and grief support. Pals for Palliative will continue and grow in 2026, with more ways to raise funds from hiking, cycling, paddling to baking, quilting and friendly competitions. Watch out for an announcement in Spring 2026!
Learning Opportunities
Throughout the year, Bow Valley Palliative hosts a variety of events, offering opportunities to learn from experts in palliative care and related fields.
Past speakers included Dr. Kathryn Mannix, Dr. Sammy Winemaker, and Dr. Hsien Seow.
Our volunteer training program equips individuals with the knowledge, skills, and confidence to provide meaningful support to those facing end-of-life challenges.
We also offer extensive Volunteer Training through a combination of guided learning, reflective practice, and hands-on experience. Our volunteers learn how to offer compassionate, respectful, and confidential care.
