About Us

Our Mission

At Bow Valley Palliative, our mission is to provide compassionate, individualized palliative care and grief support to individuals and families throughout the Bow Valley. We are dedicated to ensuring that no one has to face these challenging times alone, offering the care and support they need close to home.

Our vision is to create a community where every individual has easy, barrier-free access to high-quality, compassionate care throughout their palliative journey. By collaborating with local partners, we aim to empower individuals to live with dignity, comfort, and support in their own community, surrounded by the care of family and loved ones.

We are guided by our core values
Dignity

We honour the unique worth of every individual, listening with respect and supporting their personal choices and decisions.

Comfort

Compassion is at the heart of everything we do. We create peaceful, supportive environments where individuals and their families can find comfort and serenity throughout the palliative care journey.

Excellence

We strive for the highest standards in care, fostering innovation, collaboration, and always placing people at the heart of everything we do.

Our Story

A journey of passion and community

Bow Valley Palliative’s journey began with a group of passionate volunteers—residents of the Bow Valley—who believed that individuals diagnosed with a life-changing illness should have the option to stay close to home for care. This belief sparked the creation of our organization, driven by a deep commitment to community and compassionate care.

In 2016, we became a registered charity and, over the years, have built a strong foundation of support through our programs and a dedicated team of over 90 volunteers. Thanks to generous donations and grants, we’re able to offer these services at no cost to individuals and their caregivers, helping them navigate the resources available in the Bow Valley, reducing the need for travel, and improving quality of life.

Working Together to Shape the Future of Palliative Care

Collaboration has been key to our success. We partner with local municipalities, non-profit organizations, and for-profit businesses to expand our reach and better serve the community. For us, it’s all about working together to create a stronger, more supportive Bow Valley.

As the need for locally-based palliative care continues to grow, we’re excited to expand our programs and services. We are planning the development of a Centre for Palliative Care and Hospice in Canmore—a centralized hub for high-quality, holistic end-of-life care. This Centre will provide compassionate care for individuals with life-changing diagnoses or experiencing grief, as well as support for their families and caregivers, all within the heart of the Bow Valley community.
